facebook-logoWe’ve all done it. We’ve opened our Facebook emails, read an emailed comment from our Fan Page that ignited our creative juices, and hit reply only to realize that Facebook doesn’t allow you to reply this way. Not anymore!

Facebook recently launched the capabilities of replying to comments via email. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a message from Facebook in each of the emails that reads, “New Feature: Reply to this email to comment on this post.” This is a fantastic feature for anyone who manages a fan page. Manage multiple fan pages as I do, and it is a gift. Today, I’m referring to it as my special holiday gift from Facebook.

I’ve always monitored comments via email. My email feeds into my Blackberry. Now, I can reply faster and easier to keep discussions going and without logging into Facebook. This saves me a ton of steps, not to mention a whole lot of time. Thanks Facebook!

*Hint: Don’t try to reply to emailed messages from last week. The feature wasn’t implemented and is likely not to work on older messages.

  1. I am confused…. 1) I do not get email notifications when fans comment on my Fan Page. 2) I do not see anything on my emails from Facebook about how I can reply via email (for my personal page)
    What am I missing?

Hmm…Sorry I haven't got back to you before now. I am going to go back through my emails and see if I can find an actual example to forward to you via email. We can start there so you know what I'm talking about. Then we'll tackle the "why not". :)

I must apologize. I can't find what I previously saw and was using. I did see the new option in my status updates, wall posts, etc. but NOT in my pages. Sorry for any confusion. I was going to delete the post, but thought, nah….I'd rather comment again to explain.

  4. I have a personal facebook page and shortly after, I decided to start a page for my business. I rebuilt the page to include a description in the page url. On my personal page, where the profile information is, you see my "work" link. Clicking that link brings you to the original business page and I want to change that! I want the link to direct friends to the second, updated business page.

This is the old page that my profile page links to:
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/AbracaDebras/168118

But I would like it to link to this updated page:
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/AbracaDebras/168118

I hope someone can answer and successfully direct me as to how this is done.

    Thank You,
    Debra

Sorry Debra, I'm not sure I follow you. What is your personal page link?
