This is great! I almost feel that I wrote this! When I started using twitter, I thought the exact same thing (what's the point, why should I care what someone is doing 24/7 and visa versa). It has become a phenomenal tool - allowing me to quickly reach out and share my passion - advocating trustworthy health information resources and literacy skills particulary for military members and veterans! It has also taught me how to get to the point (140 characters) quickly (that's been a great thing!). Like you, I concentrate on following those with similar/related goals (military and civilian). I protect my tweets, which some have not understood. Simple, I weed out the wannabe porno stars ("Take a look at my pictures" (I'll pass) and 'B.S. Marketers'. My followers are people who are seriously interested in what I have to say and share and whom have much to share with me as well! I will follow you ... we seem to share the same common sense approach to this with good humor!
